  • McKenzie Paul Allen Viau

    McKenzie Paul Allen Viau (center) of Fairview High School was this chapter’s winner of the “Admiral William P. Lawrence Award.”


    This award recognizes the top high school scholar-athlete in Middle Tennessee based on scholarship, sportsmanship and value to his team. Presenting were Admiral Lawrence’s daughter, Dr. Laurie Lawrence and NFF board member Mike Hargis. Admiral Lawrence was a highly decorated U.S. Naval hero who served his country with distinction, being awarded 17 medals including the Distinguished Service Medal, the nation’s third highest military award.

  • Baylor Bramble

    Baylor Bramble (left) was awarded the “2016 Bob Sullins Inspiration Award.”


    This award is presented to a Middle Tennessee high school student who serves as an inspiration to his teammates, his classmates and members of his community. Bramble was injured during a football game Oct. 23, 2015 while playing for Murfreesboro’s Siegel High School. Joining Baylor are from left, his father David Bramble, brother Brady Bramble, his head football coach Greg Wyant, NFF board members Kelly Holcomb and Bob Sullins.

    Greg Wyant, Bramble’s head coach at Siegel High School, delivered a very moving and emotional speech, sharing Baylor’s journey and the inspiration he and his entire family have been to each other and their community.

    NFF President Emeritus Bob Sullins shares thoughts on the Bramble family and personal reflection on the chapter’s recent decision to name this long-standing award in his honor.

  • Weston Jay Schwerdt

    Weston Jay Schwerdt (center) from Hendersonville High School received the “2016 Joe L. Worden / Jack Redgren Courage Award” from NFF board members Ryan Aulds (left) and Wally Conyers.


    Worden and Redgren were former Vanderbilt Athletic Department trainers who both earned this chapter’s Roy Kramer Contribution to Football Award.

  • Jacob Lewis Phillips

    Jacob Lewis Phillips (center) received the “2016 Jim Barrom Spirit Award” from Clark Perry (left) and Judith Barrom.


    This award presented to Metropolitan Nashville school student-athlete who exemplifies the highest qualities of sportsmanship and is named for Jim Barrom, who was a successful high school coach in the ‘70s who later achieved great success in the business world. In addition to supporting this NFF chapter, he also supported both the Belmont and MTSU athletic programs.

    Jacob Daniel Hendrixson (center) of Eagleville High School received the “2016 Harold ‘Cotton’ Clark Spirit Award.”


    Presenting the award was NFF board members Mike Tribue (left) and Dewayne Alexander. This award is presented to a Middle Tennessee student-athlete who exemplifies the highest qualities of sportsmanship. The award named for Cotton Clark, who was a long-time executive secretary of this NFF chapter.

    MTSU’s head football coach Rick Stockstill (center) accepts the “2016 C.R. Bickerstaff / Bill Pace University Scholarship Award” on behalf of his son, Brent Stockstill.


    Presenting the award are NFF board members Scott Brunette (left) and James “Boots” Donnelly. Bickerstaff was a long-time executive secretary of this NFF chapter and Pace is a former Vanderbilt football head coach. The award is presented to the top university scholar-athlete in Middle Tennessee.
